FAQ

1. What can therapy help with?

Therapy can help with a wide range of concerns, including:

  • Anxiety and panic

  • Depression and mood changes

  • Stress and burnout

  • Relationship challenges

  • Grief and loss

  • Trauma and PTSD

  • Self-esteem and confidence

  • Life transitions (career changes, parenthood, divorce, etc.)

You don’t need to be in crisis to start therapy. Many people seek support simply because they want to understand themselves better and build healthier coping skills.

2. How do I know if therapy is right for me?

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, emotionally drained, or noticing patterns you’d like to change, therapy can help. You might also benefit from therapy if:

  • You feel anxious or sad more often than you’d like

  • Your relationships feel strained

  • You’re struggling with motivation or purpose

  • You’ve experienced a recent loss or major life change

Therapy is a space to explore your thoughts and feelings without judgment.

3. What happens in the first session?

The first session is about getting to know you. We’ll discuss:

  • What brings you to therapy

  • Your personal history

  • Current challenges

  • Your goals for therapy

You’ll also have a chance to ask questions and decide whether you feel comfortable moving forward. Building trust is an important part of the process.

4. How long does therapy take?

The length of therapy varies from person to person. Some clients come for short-term support (8–12 sessions), while others benefit from longer-term work. This depends on your goals, the issues you’re working through, and how deeply you’d like to explore them.

We’ll regularly check in about your progress and adjust as needed.

5. Is therapy confidential?

Yes. What you share in therapy is confidential, with a few legal exceptions, such as:

  • Risk of harm to yourself

  • Risk of harm to others

  • Abuse or neglect of a child, elder, or dependent adult

  • Court orders requiring records

I will explain confidentiality in detail during your first session so you know exactly what to expect.

6. Do you offer online therapy?

Yes. Virtual sessions are available via a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform. Online therapy offers flexibility and convenience while maintaining the same level of care as in-person sessions.

7. Do you accept insurance?

Insurance policies vary. Some therapists accept insurance directly, while others are out-of-network providers. If I am out-of-network, I can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.

Please contact me to verify your specific coverage.

8. What if I don’t know what to talk about?

That’s completely okay. Many clients feel unsure at first. Part of my role is to help guide the conversation and create a safe space for whatever comes up. You don’t need to prepare anything — just show up as you are.

9. How do I get started?

Getting started is simple:

  1. Reach out via the contact form, phone, or email.

  2. Schedule a free consultation (if offered).

  3. Book your first appointment.

Taking the first step can feel intimidating, but you don’t have to do it alone.
